Our Favourite Trends for Spring 2016!

Our Favourite Trends for Spring 2016!
Tips from Your Pro’s at Kenneth Robert Entertainment

With changing weather and changing seasons, come changing trends we love or don’t love.

Every couple has their own ideas about how they would like to celebrate their momentous day; reflect their individual personalities as well as their personality as a newlywed couple.

Some are deeply entrenched with tradition while others opt for a casual feel or a specific themed approach.

We wanted to highlight a few of the trends we are seeing or reading about and falling in love with for “Spring 2016”!

Fashion forward
A nod to vintage dresses, jewels and themes.  From Gatsby inspired, to a return to the Victorian era, what’s not to love about this trend?  While ‘fit and flare’ is still a very popular choice, designers and brides alike are giving in to lace, pearls, capped sleeves, low backs and even colour!  Think; fairy-tale, romance and elegance!
One of my favourite designers, Sharmilli Thangarajah of Sharleez Bridal in Ajax.

Food for thought
Elegant food stations are taking the place of buffets.  Creating a memorable, culinary experience for you and your guests, this trend is both ‘hot’ and ‘cold’!  Raw bars and lollipop style hot hors d’oeuvres provide unique options for some tasty treats.

Taking your sweet table to another level, consider a candy ‘bar’ food station or better yet, a sweet cart to highlight your sugared treats.  Decorate your candy bar or sweet cart to keep with the theme and style of your wedding reception.  One of our favourites; Sweethearts Sugar Carts!

Why stop at food and sweet stations?  Have you thought about incorporating a signature drink or beverage station?  Think; build your own Bellini’s with fresh fruit or mint Mojitos or a classic turn to wine and cheese or chocolate and Scotch samples.  “Mix” in bar service with flare to keep your guests entertained during cocktail hour.

The photo booth is not going anywhere but UP!  Guests are loving this offering and couples are enjoying the lasting memories from photos of family and friends having a great time at their wedding reception.  Two great options; set up for use during cocktail hour and/or set up for use after all the main events are completed.  This is a great option for all ages.  Add in some props and your guests will have a ball posing for the camera.  Print on site options are available with double strips, one for you and one for your guests.  Online options that work with social media are also available.  Something a little out of the ordinary, try a slow motion photo booth as seen at SloMoStudios!

Hair and Floras
Hair and floral arrangements, mimic each other with loose cascading waves and bouquets.

Cathedral veils, bridal hats and floral crowns cap off a perfect romantic or vintage look.

Don’t stop at the usual floral arrangements, think; floral art!  Ask your favourite florist for romantic, unique centerpieces and floral arrangements.

Also, don’t forget, your flowers can do double duty at your ceremony and reception.  Plan ahead and make sure you have the right people on hand to transport your arrangements from venue to venue.

Lighting the way
One of my favourite trends and most cost effective way to transform your event space, remains the use of lighting.  Lighting is an art and can create a magical mood, create a winter wonderland in the middle of summer or elevate your dance floor party.  From custom GOBO projection, to pin spots, to perimeter lighting, ask your wedding planner for the best options for your theme or d├ęcor, indoor or outdoor!
